Periodontal Care

Studies show that over 75 percent of adults suffer from periodontal disease, also called gum disease. It can easily go unnoticed because the early warning signs are mild – swelling and bleeding of the gums. But periodontal disease can lead to other health problems, including heart disease, stroke, diabetes complications, and pre-term labor. During your regular check up, our hygienist will assess your mouth for signs of periodontal disease and other oral problems. If you have advanced periodontitis, we may refer you to a trusted gum therapy specialist, a periodontist, for treatment. For early stage periodontal disease, we may recommend:

  • Non-surgical soft tissue maintenance
  • Arestin or Atridox Antibiotic Treatment
  • Scaling and root planing

Patient Comfort and Technology

We know that people often feel nervous about dental visits, so we strive to establish a peaceful, soothing environment where patients can feel comfortable and confident. With technology like laser therapy, digital X-rays, and intraoral cameras, we can enhance your dental experience. Other small comforts, like heated neck wraps, blankets, TVs in all rooms, and paraffin hand wax may also help you relax and feel at home. For patients with dental anxiety, we offer nitrous oxide gas or conscious sedation. Dr. Wing, Dr. Mack, Dr. Smith, and Dr. Bang understand the dental fear and work with patients to make the dental experience positive and rewarding. Call our office to let us know if we can do anything else to make your experience pleasant.
